Macclesfield’s Remembrance Sunday parade leaves Market Place at 10.30am on Sunday 8 November 2026, in time for the ceremony at the cenotaph on Park Green at about 10.50am (Macclesfield Town Council: Remembrance Sunday). The council lists the event as running until about noon.

Macclesfield

The town council’s listing for 2026 is short and firm: the parade forms in Market Place and leaves at 10.30am for Park Green, where the ceremony starts at around 10.50am, ahead of the two-minute silence at 11am. The council gives the whole event as 10.30am to 12pm. It has not published a road closure notice or a list of the organisations marching yet.

The memorial itself is listed Grade II. Unveiled on 21 September 1921, with sculpture by J Millard, it shows Britannia laying a crown of laurels on the body of a fallen soldier. It carries 668 First World War names on four pillars around it and 195 Second World War names* on tablets on the walls either side (IWM War Memorials Register).

Three days later, on Wednesday 11 November, the council holds a short Armistice Day service outside the Town Hall, starting just before 11am and finishing by 11.30am (Macclesfield Town Council: Armistice Day).

Wilmslow and Handforth

Wilmslow Town Council organises Wilmslow’s service with St Bartholomew’s Church. It has not posted 2026 arrangements yet. The pattern in its most recent published arrangements, for 2024, was (Wilmslow Town Council: Remembrance Sunday 2024):

  • Parade leaves Grove Avenue at 9.30am prompt, with participants asked to arrive by 9.15am, down Grove Street and Church Street to St Bartholomew’s.
  • A 10am service in the church.
  • At about 10.45am, everyone moves to the Memorial Gardens for the 11am service and the laying of wreaths.
  • There is no second parade after the Memorial Gardens service.

Poynton

Poynton’s parade and service is held on the Sunday closest to 11 November, which this year is 8 November. The town’s uniformed organisations march down Park Lane with the Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band, the service is at St George’s Church, and wreaths are laid at the war memorial afterwards (Poynton Town Council: local events). The council has not published the 2026 times.

The night before, the Royal British Legion’s Poynton Remembrance Concert is on Saturday 7 November at 7.30pm (Eventbrite listing).

Bollington

Bollington Town Council’s published arrangements, the last it put online, follow a fixed shape (Bollington Town Council: Remembrance Sunday parade and service): the parade assembles in the Recreation Ground car park on Adlington Road from 10.15am, marches off at 10.40am, and the service starts at 10.55am in the Memorial Gardens. At about 11.30am the parade returns the same way. A rolling roadblock controls traffic on the way there and back, so expect short delays on the main road through the town around those times. That page dates from 2021, so check for 2026 times nearer the day.

Knutsford

Knutsford Town Council publishes its own Remembrance Sunday page, but it was not responding when we checked. We will add the 2026 details when it is back.

Getting there

Market Place is pedestrianised, so drive to a town centre car park. Council car park charges apply on Sundays from 8am; the car parks and their prices are on our parking in Macclesfield page. Any road closures for the parade will go on our roadworks and travel page when the council publishes them.
